Monthly Favourites – January 2018

It’s been a while, but I’m back with my January 2018 favourites! I have discovered so many new products this month that I am absolutely loving, and I can’t wait to share them with you. I have to say, Maybelline is pulling through on the amazing products this month! I discovered three new products that I have a feeling will be my favourites for a while. Without further ado, let’s jump into it!

Nars Blush in ‘Sin’

I recently picked up my first Nars blush after hearing so many good things about them. But I knew I didn’t want to buy the famous shade Orgasm, even though it is so popular. The gold flecks in it just didn’t appeal to me. After a few recommendations from my friends, I decided to pick up Sin, and I love it! It’s a beautiful mauve-y shade that looks beautiful on the eyes and cheeks. There is a slight shimmer and a little goes a long way. These blushes are definitely worth the money, and honestly I would recommend picking up any shade. Sin just happens to be my favourite!

Maybelline Master Chrome Highlight in ‘Rose Gold’

These highlights are insane! After Manny (@mannymua on YouTube) recommended the gold one, I wanted to check them out so badly. Although chunky intense highlight isn’t my favourite thing anymore, these highlights are the opposite of chunky. These go on like butter. I love to dampen my highlight brush with some setting spray to make it even more intense, and it looks awesome. I went with the rose gold shade because the gold is a bit too dark on my skin. These babies are affordable and just as good as a high end highlighter. Love it!

Maybelline Fit Me! Loose Powder in ‘Fair’

I have been on the hunt for my perfect loose powder formula, and up til now I hadn’t found it. @RawBeautyKristi on YouTube recommend this one, and I love it. This is almost a perfect dupe for Laura Mercier’s Loose Translucent Powder, except this one costs $10 instead of $40. The colour brightens the under-eye perfectly, and it isn’t drying on the skin. It you are looking for a powder to sculpt the face with, I would definitely go with this one. It also comes in multiple colours!

GlamGlow Glowsetter Makeup Setting Spray

I love this setting spray from GlamGlow! It is perfect for setting the face, and dampening any brushes to use for metallic eyeshadow or highlight. The mist is fine, so you never have to worry about wet splotches on your foundation when you have completed your makeup look. It gives the skin a subtle radiance, and smells like creamsicles. Yum!

Benefit 24-Hr Brow Setter

After running out of my old Body Shop Clear Brow Mascara, I wanted to try something new to gel my brows. My friend Candice who works for Benefit recommended the Benefit 24-Hr Brow Setter to me, and I love it. The brush is perfectly shaped – small enough to get every hair and shape the brow perfectly, and there are two sides to the brush which have different lengths to shape the brow in different ways. It holds like a dream, but isn’t crunchy or makes the brow look wet. I will definitely continue to use this one! Benefit always kills the brow game, and I want to check out a few more of what they have available.

Maybelline Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lip in ‘Seductress’

I just tried these new Maybelline liquid lipsticks last week and I am seriously blown away. First of all, these come in awesome colours. They have beautiful nudes and bright bolds. These also last FOREVER on the lips, but aren’t drying. You can’t get these off with micellar water. I find they remove best with an oil, and although they can be difficult to remove, I love that I don’t have to think about them all day. The consistency is a bit sticky at first, but they do dry down and because it isn’t completely matte, I don’t have to worry about dry lips. The applicator on these is shaped perfectly for getting crisp lines. It makes it supper easy to apply and touch up. These are so good! Highly recommend.

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara

Because I have never found a mascara that I love, back in December I purchased a gift set from work that came with several mini mascaras to try. After trying Lancôme’s Monsieur Big mascara, I liked it so much I purchased the big size! This says a lot because I rarely repurchase mascara, as I am so picky. This one is super black, and makes the lashes look long and voluminous. As it gets older in the tube, it doesn’t get flakey or dry either, which is a big plus for me.

Kat Von D Saint Eau de Toilette

I was lucky enough to receive both Saint and Sinner from Kat Von D’s new fragrance line, and I love them both. But Saint pulls through as my favourite as it is so sweet and fresh. I love to wear this day to day and it is super long wearing. Here’s what Kat says about the fragrance on the Sephora website:

“Meet Saint—soft, alluring, and dreamy, this gourmand fragrance sweetens a bouquet of jasmine and tiaré flower with notes of mandarin, caramel, and sparkling Mirabelle plum. Vanilla, sandalwood, and creamy musk build to the romance of the perfume, imparting a warmth that reminds Kat of falling in love for the very first time. Saint is a poetic exploration of the lesser-known, softer side of Kat Von D.”

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Fresh Cut Split End Mender

My favourite hair care brand pulled through again with this beauty. Living Proof never fails me, and this product is saving my blonde hair. If you have blonde hair, you probably know the dry, dull look your hair can sometimes get from the bleach. I tend to get some breakage around my baby hairs when as I get lighter, and this split end mender saves my hair from that. I apply this in my hair after showering, focusing specifically where I have breakage, and then I use it on my dry hair to style it. It’s light and smells citrusy, and makes each and every dead end look and feel healthy.

Love,

Taylor
