Best of… Foundation!

I’ve decided to start a mini series on my blog of top 5s from each makeup category. I really like reading or watching other beauty bloggers’ versions of this so I thought it would be fun to start my own! Today I will be doing my top 5 favourite foundations!

5) Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in ‘Soft Ivory.’

My number 5 foundation is this Laura Mercier foundation in the luminous formula. Unfortunately, I think this beautiful formula may have been discontinued because I couldn’t find it on the Sephora website. However, I did find it on Amazon so if you were really interested you could probably find it on there. I love this foundation because of the coverage. It is heavy duty, yet still glowy because of the luminous formula. This will cover basically anything on your face. I usually wear this foundation if I am going out for the night, because I know I can trust this formula to stay put. It is also light enough for me to wear in the dead of the winter when I am the palest, which is always a bonus. Drugstore foundations tend to oxidize and become to dark for me, whereas this one doesn’t.

4) Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation in ‘120 Classic Ivory.’

Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte and Poreless is a cult favourite these days, and I am definitely on the band wagon. However, I rarely use this on its own. I tend to mix this foundation with the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream to lighten the coverage. It mixes really well and gives just enough coverage for everyday wear. I will say that this foundation oxidizes like crazy though. Within minutes of dotting this on my face, it will already have started to turn a darker shade. For this reason, I can only use it when I am tanned. Shades lighter than the one I own are the wrong undertone for my skin. Regardless, I love the formula mixed with my BB Cream.

3) Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup SPF 25 in ‘Ivory.’

I love this foundation because it is light to medium coverage and has a very dewy finish. I wear it most during the day because it looks natural; you can barely tell you are wearing a foundation because it sits so well on the skin. It doesn’t clog the pores either! I recently finished my bottle of it and I was so sad because it is a bit pricey. However, I think in the long run it’s worth the price because one bottle lasted me over a year!

2) Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in ‘910 Classic Ivory.’

I won’t go on too much about this foundation because I have talked about it multiple times before on my blog. It used to be my #1 until I found the next foundation I will talk about. It is still my favourite full coverage foundation! For more details, check out my Ride or Die Tag!

1) Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick in ‘Abundant Alabaster.’

I am in love with this foundation. I only bought it about 4 months ago but it is already my favourite foundation in my collection. I have preferred a lighter coverage foundation these days and this is very light. It is also extremely easy to blend. I use my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to blend it out and it takes 1 minute MAX. With liquid foundations I have to wet my Beauty Blender and then pounce it into my skin for at least double the time it takes to blend this baby out. Also, because it is Clinique it is slightly pricey but not nearly as expensive as my Laura Mercier or Benefit foundations. This one goes for $27 while the Laura Mercier one is $56 and the Benefit one is $47.

I hope you find this helpful in your search for the perfect foundation. What should I do next?

Love, Taylor
