My Fall and Winter Essentials! 2015

Winter Essentials Blog Post 038
For me, when the seasons start to get colder, I get a little bit happier. Don’t get me wrong, I love the summer! Having time off from school, relaxing by the lake at my boyfriend’s house, spending time with my family… not much can be better than that! That is, except for fall and the beginning of winter. In the fall, the air starts to smell crisper, the foliage looks beautiful and the holiday season is just around the corner! So, as fall comes to a close and Christmas gets closer and closer, I wanted to share my favourite products to use in the fall and winter.

Let’s start with fragrance. In the winter, I lean toward scents that are deep and warm. I like to feel like I’m cozy when I’m wearing perfume in the winter. A little tip I like to do with my fragrance in the winter is spray it straight onto the scarf I am wearing besides just spraying a bit on my wrists and neck. That way, the scent lasts longer on the fabric and I can bury my face in my scarf when its -25 degrees Celsius and smell whatever scent I’m wearing that day.

My go-to scent for the winter is Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift. I’ve been wearing it for about 3 years and I have yet to get sick of it. I think it is the perfect combo of warmth but it has a little bit of freshness to it so it isn’t suffocating. The top notes consist of raspberry, dewberry, green tea, freesia and apple blossom. The heart notes are vanilla, honeysuckle and white hibiscus and the base notes are amber, musk, sandalwood and peach. Some other winter favourites of mine are Elizabeth and James Nirvana White, Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction body mist and itStyle’s Sun 2014.

I have two foundations to talk about. The first is Covergirl’s Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation. This is probably my favourite foundation I’ve tried thus far for the winter. And it’s so cheap! I love this foundation because it blends beautifully with a damp Beauty Blender and has a flawless medium, semi-matte coverage. It lasts all day and I rarely have to touch up when I’m wearing it.

The second foundation I really love for the winter is the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. This one is a little more on the pricey side – it goes for about $58 Canadian dollars. However, it is a beautiful, full coverage foundation and a little bit goes a very long way. Every once in a while, I really like to have a full coverage foundation that lasts all day and I can pair with a smokey eye. This one is a little harder to apply with a Beauty Blender, so I like to apply it with a brush first and then blend out the streaks with a sponge.

In the winter, my skin gets pretty dry. I often deal with dry patches if I don’t have a moisturizer that is thick enough. However, Sephora’s Intensive Instant Moisturizer is great! It has a nice scent to it, but it doesn’t break me out and it is thick enough that I am able to avoid dry patches. I only need a little bit to cover my whole face, and I’m almost through two seasons with the same bottle!

In the winter, I tend to stay away from peachy, coral blushes. I really like plummy/pink blushes because I feel like it adds more warmth to my face. The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blushing Bride is really long wearing and the product itself lasts forever. I’ve been using it for around 2 years and my blush doesn’t have a dent in it. It’s a plum color with subtle flecks of gold in it and I think it is perfect for fall and winter!

Highlighter!! I am currently living for a bold highlight. I just purchased Champagne Pop by BECCA Cosmetics (in collaboration with the one and only Jaclyn Hill!!) and I am obsessing over it. It is the perfect gold shimmer that makes you look awake, dewy and healthy. I usually dust it on my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and my cupid’s bow. It is such a gorgeous product!

The Rusk Sensories Smoother Conditioner is my #1 go-to hair product for all seasons but it comes in handy in the winter when my hair gets more frizzy and dry. I have been using this for as long as I can remember and I will never use another leave-in conditioner. It is so moisturizing but it isn’t heavy on my hair at all! I highly recommend this conditioner. I recommended it to a friend who tried everything for her hair and she is in love with it!

Love, Taylor xo

    Hey guys,
I don’t talk much about beauty on my blog however, when I need advice I go right to my friend Taylor. She is just starting out a lifestyle and beauty blog (I am already a fan). Please check out this piece and give her a follow, you won’t regret it I promise!
